Hotel La Vignetta is a one-star property in the heart of the Navigli, Milan's liveliest district. A short walk from the Darsena, the Naviglio Grande and Porta Ticinese, it is an excellent base for exploring the city on foot, among canals, workshops, restaurants and aperitivo bars. Its location is the strong point, rated an excellent 9.0 by guests.
The rooms are simple and well kept, with air conditioning (available in the summer season), flat-screen satellite TV, soundproofing and a private bathroom with shower. The reception offers luggage storage, daily housekeeping and express check-in, while free WiFi reaches the whole property.
Suited to couples, solo travellers and small groups on a modest budget, La Vignetta combines a central, well-connected location with straightforward, practical management. Hotel La Vignetta is located at Via Pietro Custodi 2, in the Navigli district, right by Porta Ticinese. The handiest connection is Porta Genova station, served by metro line M2 (green) and the suburban railway: from here you reach the centre in minutes and change easily to the other lines. On the surface, the area is well covered by trams and buses along Corso di Porta Ticinese and the surrounding avenues. Milan Linate airport is about 10 km away and can be reached by taxi or, with a change in the centre, by metro; Malpensa airport is around 50 km away, linked by the Malpensa Express departing from Cadorna and Milano Centrale. Those arriving by car should note that the property has no parking and that the area has traffic restrictions: public transport is the better choice.
The district is the home of Milan's nightlife: as evening falls, the Darsena and the banks of the Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese fill with people for aperitivo, among restaurants, cocktail bars and venues. A short walk away are the Colonne di San Lorenzo, one of the city's rare Roman remains and an evening meeting point, and the Basilica of Sant'Eustorgio, with its early-Christian history. The Parco delle Basiliche and Piazza Vetra offer a green break between the two churches. The Duomo and the monumental centre are about 2 km away, reachable on foot in half an hour or by metro. On Saturdays the famous antiques market runs along the Naviglio Grande, while the nearby Vicolo dei Lavandai preserves the old washhouse. Spring and early autumn are the best times to enjoy the canals outdoors, when the weather is mild and the evenings are pleasant.
